The top 12 U20 Rugby World Cup nations in the world will compete in Cape Town and the Western Cape (South Africa) from June 24 to July 1. As preparations advance for the World Rugby U20 Championship in South Africa in 2023, Rugby Australia has named a 41-man Junior Wallabies squad.
The national rugby union under-20 team that competes for Australia is called the Junior Wallabies. Since the inaugural World Rugby U20 Championship in 2008, which took the place of the previous under-19 and under-21 championships, the team has participated in the event annually. Since 2015, the team has also participated in the Oceania U20 Championship.
In 2010 and 2019, Australia’s second-place finish at the World Rugby Under-20 Championship was its best result. The team finished fourth in 2009 after falling to South Africa 32-5 in the third place playoff. In 2011, the squad finished third after defeating France in the third place playoff.
