The national rugby union team of New Zealand is the New Zealand Rugby U20 Championship Team. They take the place of the previous Under 19s and Under 21s age grade teams. The 2008 IRB Junior World Championship was their inaugural competition, which they won after defeating England 38-3 in the championship game.
After a thorough player identification process that included the Bunnings Warehouse Super Rugby U20 competition hosted in Taupo, the 38-man 2023 New Zealand Under 20 broader team was chosen by Head Coach Clark Laidlaw and Assistants Marty Bourke and Wesley Clarke.
Eight players from the DHL Super Rugby Pacific squads or players with Super Rugby experience make up the squad. Young Hurricanes fullback Harry Godfrey, hooker Raymond Tuputupu, and No. 8 Peter Lakai, as well as outstanding Blues wing Caleb Tangitau and Highlanders hooker Jack Taylor, are among the notable players.

Young Crusaders first five-eighth Taha Kemara, halfback Noah Hotham, and winger Macca Springer are also rising stars. Players from the All Blacks Sevens, Che Clark, Codemeru Vai, and Payton Spencer will also return to the fifteens.
